Alluvium is a sound installation-performance that presents a group of singer-performers who are buried up to their necks in the soil of a countryside garden, and who duet with a generative sound installation played from speakers which are also buried beneath the grass.
Alluvium engages with the subterranean — reshaping the soundscape of the garden with layered sound emerging from underground. This work plays with a sense of the uncanny that can arise from perceiving sound that has been shifted away from the familiar — sound which has been eroded and reshaped by its surroundings.
The first presentation of Alluvium will be at Ponderosa, Stolzenhagen, from September 7. to 13., 2020.
Development of the work has been supported by the Musikfonds e.V.
